Floresteca Foundation
After two editions of Social Impact Assessment done by Floresteca, in 2003 and 2004, results showed as a main demand the need of a better education system in the communities around our activities.

In order to reduce that demand, with an educational project, Floresteca has signed a technical cooperation with Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), in December 2004.

"Florescer" project was created. The name means "Flowering" and was chosen by the students from the school benefited. It is a small public school at the rural community of Clarinopolis, which belongs to the municipality of Caceres. The selection was based on the high level of poverty presented by Clarinopolis. Our goal, however, is to expand this project to other communities in the future.
The project is supported by Floresteca and has full participation of people from the community. Activities include qualifying teachers, opening a class for adults alphabetising and education, total renovation and painting of the building, and opening the school on weekends for cultural and leisure happenings. There are other partners contributing to the success of the project, as the city hall of Caceres and other public, private and non-governmental organisations.

Project Florescer is supposed to last one year at Clarinopolis. Floresteca is seeking new partnerships to maintain the activities after this period and, based on the established pattern, to start new project in other communities.
